Rep. Cliff Stearns Tours University of Florida Labs
SfN member Todd Golde and his colleagues gave Rep. Cliff Stearns (R-FL) a tour of the neuroscience labs and other facilities at the University of Florida on August 5. The lab visit provided Rep. Stearns with a first-hand view of the latest research related to treatments and diagnostics for Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, and other neurodegenerative diseases. Inviting members of Congress to tour labs gives scientists the opportunity to showcase their research and advocate for a strong and robust scientific funding platform. Interested in hosting your legislator for a lab tour or learning more about SfN's advocacy tools? Visit the SfN Advocacy Network or contact advocacy@sfn.org.

Once grants are funded, these items are publicly available via the NIH's RePORTER Web site. For more information on this initiative and to see before and after examples, visit Communicating Research Intent and Value in NIH Applications.
